The only fraudulent mindset is the belief that you're not good enough to show up exactly as you are. Just because you're not doing it all, doesn't mean you're faking it all.
What is an imposter syndrome and how do you know if you're experiencing it?
An imposter syndrome is a psychological phenomenon in which people are unable to internalize their accomplishments. They then convince themselves that they are frauds.
Be humble -- not knowing something does NOT make you a fraud. It makes you a student. Everyone is a student in life; there is not one person in this entire world who knows it all. There are even people who are less qualified than you doing the thing you want to do; simply because they decided to believe in themselves. Period.
Instead of asking yourself; "why me?"
Start reframing your thinking to instead ask yourself; "why not me?"
We need to reframe our thoughts whenever any imposter syndrome thoughts come into our mind:
* thinking 'I don't belong here'
< I belong everywhere, always.
* thinking 'my opinion doesn't matter'
< The world needs your unique voice.
* thinking 'my experience isn't worth sharing'
< Your voice might be exactly what someone needs to hear.
* thinking 'everything has been done already'
< The world needs your unique touch.
* thinking 'I'm not good/cool/smart enough'
< You are always enough and your fear can't change that!
"Doubting yourself is normal. Letting it stop you is a choice." -- Mel Robbins
Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. when you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you've come and keep reminding yourself of that. Instead of looking for all the reasons that something won't work, start counting all the reasons that it will work! You're too busy doubting yourself while so many people around you are either intimidated or inspired by your capabilities and potential. You are SO much more than you give yourself credit for.
You don't have to be an expert in whatever it is you're doing in life; no one ever was starting off. No one is expecting you to be an expert either. The greatest expert still sometimes doubt their work...but they also keep producing it. All you need to do is show up consistently, and be YOU!
If God put big dreams and big desires on your heart, He WANTS you to go after them faithfully.
He doesn't want you cowering in the corner feeling insecure or unequipped. It's not what you are that holds you back -- its what you think you are not. Cling to hope and hold on to faith. Remember who is guiding you and let that assurance lead you.
Lets start shifting our mindset from -- imposter syndrome
to -- BOSS MODE!
You've got this! I've got this! We've all got this! Everyone is going through their own journeys in life, but we are all going through them together. No one has everything figured out, but it's okay to go at your own pace because life isn't and shouldn't be a rat race.
Every morning, look in the mirror and tell yourself this:
I am a winner.
I am capable of everything I set my mind to.
I take every setback and use it to my advantage.
I am confident in who I am.
I am confident in what I have to offer the world.
I am confident in my abilities and my purpose.
I am not held back by fear, doubt or disappointment.
I am daringly showing up to contribute something beautiful
and meaningful to this world and all those around me.
